For Better For Verse

This is your chance to dive into the vast world of Shakespeare’s words!
This workshop is perfect for anyone looking to explore the art of performing Shakespeare’s works.

We recommend the workshop to people with an intermediate level of knowledge of Shakespeare.

What to expect:
This workshop will help you to understand the nuances of Shakespearean plays and also boost your confidence in performing his works. So, if you’re ready to explore the world of iambic pentameter and soliloquies, sign up now and let’s bring Shakespeare to life together!

You will be asked to select and learn a Shakespeare monologue from a list (you may select a piece that is not on our list as long as you let us know so we can prepare).

After signing up you will receive a pack with the selection of monologues to choose from and further directions.

About the Workshop Leaders:

Warren Rusher– Warren is an actor, workshop leader, and coaches student actors for drama school auditions and professional actors for audittions. He is the Shakespeare teacher at the London College of Performing Arts and was company manager for the Shakespeare ensemble Passion in Practice. He designed and led an international Acting Shakespeare Masterclass series in Vancouver, New York and London. He runs the regular free workshop “Speak The Speech”. He trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

Steve Rodgers– Steve has studied Shakespeare as both an academic and an actor, having done an MA in English Literature and Literary Research before completing MA Classical Acting at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. He has performed various roles by Shakespeare and his contemporaries, both on the London Fringe and in Italy, where he also ran Shakespeare workshops for local students.

I can’t even begin to describe the teaching feat that Warren accomplished in a few short months. Warren takes on projects with an infectious confidence. It takes only a few words (or even a tap on the head) for him to inspire you with the confidence to go on stage and own a performance.

1-2-1 coaching sessions

Whether it is for an upcoming audition, a self-tape or working on a monologue for your repertoire, Warren can help you dig deeper and make connections to the text that you are unable to achieve without a director.

There was never a moment when I wasn’t learning and growing as an actor and person while working with Warren. After we learnt the theory and significance of the lines he would take it to the next step by helping us make smarter, stronger, and better choices in the application of our work. The work for him did not just end with the script, but transcended to the stage. Any actor would be doing themselves an injustice if they did not work with Warren Rusher.

Warren has valuable experience coaching, teaching and running workshops for all ages. He works as both an actor and acting coach. He teaches at the London College of Performing Arts and has been running London’s only free regular acting class.

Warren designed an international Acting Shakespeare Masterclass series that was run in Vancouver, New York and London. He has also had a workshop proposal accepted by the World Shakespeare Congress, and during his time as company manager for the small Shakespeare ensemble Passion in Practice, he was a guest practitioner at several Shakespeare conferences in the USA.

Warren runs a monthly acting workshop Speak The Speech that is FREE to attend
